A WOMAN has been killed after she was hit by a train earlier today.
British Transport Police said the incident took place at around 3pm, on the line between Stoke and Stafford.
A spokesman said: "Our officers were called following reports of a person being hit by a train.
"Colleagues from Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended and a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
